Say Goodbye to the 1950s
Shotcrete and Gunite Swimming Pools…
A New Pool Technology is Finally Here.
Meet Biodesign, by BeachLagoons.

Technology

The Biodesign structural coating, consisting of specialty resins and quartz sand, has double the mechanical resistance compared to structural concrete. This makes Biodesign’s technology far superior to traditional pool construction methods, such as Gunite or Shotcrete. However, in order to understand its true value, Biodesign should be compared in its use: in fact, the Biodesign coating is not subject to the stresses and the water pressure, because it is positioned on the waterproofing liner and submerged in the water. This redistribution of weight combined with its exceptional strength makes Biodesign the clear choice for your new pool.

Biodesign is Patented Construction Technology

Biodesign has patented construction technology with excellent waterproofing properties as well as superb structural integrity. It can be achieved in seven simple steps:

  • 1 Excavation: The shape of the pool is created during this step, as well as the formation of custom beaches, seating areas, and swimming areas. A unique and personalized pool environment can be made depending on your preferences.
  • 2 Geotextile Protective Coating: An initial layer of this material is placed over the excavation in order to protect the ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) liner from potential damage caused by sharp objects.
  • 3 Waterproof EPDM Liner Installation: Placed over the geotextile sheet, the highly elastic EPDM liner conforms to any change in ground movement without sustaining any damage.
  • 4 Structural Net Placement: Put the material over the EPDM liner.
  • 5 Structural Paving: Spread a mixture of natural, granulated quartz and nontoxic resin over the entire area by hand.
  • 6 Secondary Net Placement: Another structural net is placed over the paving.
  • 7 Final Layer Application: Granulated stone and nontoxic resins are blended and spread by hand over the surface. A final layer of resin is applied after a light sanding.

The Advantages of the Biodesign Technology

- - - -WE BUILD WITH ACCURACY AND PROFESSIONALISM

Many years of research and development of the product and the hundreds of public and private pools built worldwide have given Biodesign the opportunity to develop a technology with a low environmental impact, an extraordinary waterproofing quality and high structural performances thanks to the patented Biodesign coating. The technical sheets show that the waterproofing liners are superior to those used in traditional pools thanks to an elasticity of + 300%. Furthermore, they have higher resistance against UV rays, extreme temperature swings, ground settling and chemical products, which gives it a longer life.

Total Customisation

Your custom-made lagoon increases the value of your home property more than a traditional pool while catering to your unique needs and individual style.

Certified structural solidity

This technology is specifically designed to remove the weaknesses of the old pools by redistributing the weight and improving the materials' performances.

The best swimming experience

Swimming areas, beaches, seats, and submerged walkways sculpted in natural stone offer a luxurious swimming experience.

International patent protection

A true restriction of competition ensures stable margins for the whole network.

Flexibility

The Biodesign technology uses a waterproofing liner in EPDM that is applied on the ground and protected by a special geotextile.

EPDM is a special chemical material that is completely inert, it does not contain any polluting additives or heavy metals and does not free harmful substances in the environment. The old EPDM installation can be burnt in order to produce energy(provided that they do not emit any dioxins), it can be buried with domestic waste, or recycled for producing new products in EPDM.
Greenpeace Suggests EPDM as an alternative to PVC.

Certification of the waterproofing liner

EPDM is a synthetic polymer that for more than 40 years has registered a continuous growth of its use in the automotive industry and civil engineering.

It is an elastomer, which is obtained from the copolymerization of ethylene, propylene and Diene Monomer that is vulcanised. The long plastic molecules are connected through crossed chemical bonds that build an elastic product, which is chemically stable with an unmatched resistance to UV rays, ozone, extreme tempratures and chemical substances.
